Profile Summary
Dr. Alaa Sarhan is a climate finance and sustainability advisor with more than 25 years of experience in environmental and climate change project development, implementation, and policy advisory. He is Professor of Environmental Economics and former Vice Dean at the Faculty of Environment, Ain Shams University.
His expertise spans environmental due diligence, climate risk analysis, green finance, and the design of climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience strategies. He has worked with development partners including USAID, UNDP, and the World Bank, and has supported the implementation of green credit lines in collaboration with central banks and major financial institutions.
Dr. Sarhan is a former staff member of both the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and has held leadership and advisory roles with UNEP and other international institutions. He combines technical depth in environmental economics with practical delivery across policy, finance, and institutional systems.
