Profile Summary

Elham Mahmoud Ali is Professor of Environmental Sciences and Oceanography at Suez University and Scientific Advisor to Egypt’s National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS). With more than 20 years of experience, she combines academic leadership with environmental consulting for national, regional, and international organizations.

She has supported institutions including the African Union, World Bank, and United Nations, and played a leading role in developing the Regional Blue Economy Strategy for North Africa. She is currently spearheading Egypt’s first national Marine Spatial Planning framework.

Dr. Ali is a Lead Author in the UN IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, a contributor to MedECC and GEO-7, and a member of the UN-affiliated World Foresight Experts. In recognition of her scientific achievements, she received the African Union’s Kwame Nkrumah Award as Africa’s Best Woman Scientist in 2020.

Beyond her scientific and policy work, she is a certified international trainer in institutional development and strategic planning.
