Profile Summary

Dr. Shadia Elshishini holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Cairo University and brings 40 years of professional experience as a professor of chemical engineering and consultant to industry. Her work spans cleaner production, industrial decarbonization, sustainable policy, and technical advisory support for energy-intensive sectors.

She is currently acting as Key Technical Expert for the Green Sustainable Industry Program funded by EIF, AFD, and the European Union, supporting industrial establishments in the preparation, procurement, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of sub-projects. In this role, she also helps identify alignment with gender equality requirements, EU Taxonomy, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Elshishini is a climate accounting expert who has conducted carbon footprint assessments for multiple companies and delivered CBAM reporting support for fertilizer and cement companies. Over the last twenty years, she also acted as Industry Expert for the Egyptian Pollution Abatement Projects EPAP II and EPAP III, as well as the PPSI project funded by KfW, contributing technical studies and cost-benefit assessments for 170 sub-projects across 15 industrial sectors.

Her consulting portfolio includes work with leading international institutions and firms such as ERM, LDK, EBRD, Ricardo, and UNIDO, where she conducted short-term studies on carbon intensity, carbon credits, waste exchange, scaling up cleaner production, and sustainable policy design.

Between 2014 and 2025, she also served as a consultant to the Ministry of Environment on issues related to complaints from polluting industries including oil and gas, fertilizers, and cement, in addition to updating emission limit values, developing coal regulations, reviewing legislative modifications, and contributing to a new EIA system.

With extensive process design and industrial advisory experience, she has delivered capacity-building workshops for ministry staff and industry on pollution abatement, energy and resource efficiency, best available techniques, release estimation, dispersion modelling, process modification for compliance, decarbonization, climate accounting, and embedded emissions estimation under CBAM for major energy-intensive sectors.
